Escalation in Conflict Zones:
The conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has escalated significantly in Khartoum, Al-Fasher, and the Gezira State.
Heavy artillery shelling and airstrikes have devastated urban areas, resulting in mass civilian casualties and widespread displacement.
The UN Secretary-General expressed deep concern over the escalating violence, urging both parties to immediately cease hostilities and allow humanitarian aid access.
Impact on Civilians:
In January alone, over 2,000 people were killed or injured.
Entire neighborhoods in Khartoum and Al-Fasher have been reduced to rubble.
More than 800,000 people have been displaced since the beginning of the year.
The UN warns that Sudan is on the brink of becoming the world’s largest humanitarian crisis unless immediate action is taken.
