Intensified Fighting Across Sudan: UN Calls for Ceasefire

Escalation in Conflict Zones:

• The conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has escalated significantly in Khartoum, Al-Fasher, and the Gezira State.

• Heavy artillery shelling and airstrikes have devastated urban areas, resulting in mass civilian casualties and widespread displacement.

• The UN Secretary-General expressed deep concern over the escalating violence, urging both parties to immediately cease hostilities and allow humanitarian aid access.

Impact on Civilians:

• In January alone, over 2,000 people were killed or injured.

• Entire neighborhoods in Khartoum and Al-Fasher have been reduced to rubble.

• More than 800,000 people have been displaced since the beginning of the year.
