Sudan Call: July 2025 Basmatie Launches Its First Mobile Clinic
Project type
Medical Outreach Program
Date
July 2025
Location
Omdurman, Sudan
Due to the ongoing war, only a limited number of hospitals remain operational in Sudan, making access to medical care both difficult and unaffordable for many families. In response to this urgent reality, Basmatie vzw Sudan launched its first mobile clinic in July 2025, bringing essential healthcare directly to the communities most affected by the crisis.
The first mobile clinic was organized at the Sakinah Institute, where Basmatie set up a fully equipped medical space, including a functioning laboratory. A professional team of volunteers general practitioners, a pediatrician, a dietitian, a surgeon, pharmacists, medical laboratory technicians, and field volunteers worked together to provide comprehensive care.
On that first day alone, 165 patients were examined, diagnosed, and provided with free medication when needed. The mobile clinic offered immediate relief to people who had been without access to medical assistance for months or in some cases even years.
As the needs became clearer, Basmatie expanded the service to include home visits, ensuring that even those who could not afford transportation to the clinic still received medical care. This approach strengthened accessibility and reduced pressure on the few remaining operational hospitals.
Through the dedication of its volunteers and the resilience of the local community, Basmatie’s mobile clinic continues to bring hope, healing, and essential healthcare to those who need it most.
