Eish Sudani – Reviving Sudanese Heritage Through Games

A cultural event designed to bridge generational gaps by reviving traditional Sudanese games and fostering a deeper connection to heritage. Families and friends came together for a day of outdoor challenges, singing, dancing, and shared meals, celebrating the richness of Sudanese traditions. Led by the young volunteers of the Sudanese Ghent community, under the supervision of the founders of Basmatie Vzw, the event was carefully planned to introduce children growing up in Belgium to the childhood experiences of their parents. Through storytelling, interactive games, and music, participants learned about Sudanese folklore, values, and the importance of unity. The event not only created joyful memories but also strengthened the cultural identity of younger generations, ensuring that Sudanese traditions remain alive and cherished across borders.
